I haven't read a contemporary this powerful in a while. In this book we're following two police officers. They're partners, and one gets injured in an attack at a school. This book is about healing, struggling with trauma, feelings developing, raising a child...and so much more. I don't know how S. F. Brooke does it, but she really pulled me into these lives and made them so special to me. I can't stop thinking about this story. Not to mention that it really threw me for a few loops emotionally. Things kept changing and I was starting to get STRESSED. All I wanted was for these characters to end up together. Let's just say this book is a journey. I really need to read more of Brooke's work. She is so talented and amazing.
